during the long years, diagnosis of fever in labor was an interesting and important subject for health groups and the main reason was the increased mortality rate of women that were affected by these infections after delivery. the most common serious complication after delivery is infection . usually 1 to 7 percent of women are affected by postpartum infection . a symptom of this type of infection is temperature 38 c or more for two days in the first ten days after delivery (except for the first 24 hours) . some women are discharged within a few hours and most patients can leave the hospital until the fourth day, therefore the first abnormal increase in temperature may occur after discharge from hospital .
